Welcome to Veda Vedanta Gurukula Mahavidyalaya, which is part of the Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham. It is an institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient wisdom of the Vedas. Its mission is to provide a nurturing environment for students to learn and master the sacred Vedas and Vedic rituals.
Additionally, it seeks to provide laymen and their families, who are astikas (believers in Sanatana Dharma), a serene space to spend quality time for quiet reflection, while soaking in the spiritually charged ambience of the institution. The institution is located within convenient driving distance from Hyderabad (4 ½ hours), Vijayawada (2 ½ hours) and Guntur (2 hours), making it convenient for people from across the world to come to this institution, and stay here for a few days/weeks in a simple, yet comfortable setting, to connect with the core of their being and recognise the divinity within themselves by delving into the core of their being. In this manner, people who choose to avail this opportunity would be able to rejuvenate themselves and be ready to face the challenges of modern living. Rules and Conditions
Please read and acknowledge the following rules and conditions for your stay:
- Respect the silence: This is a place of quiet contemplation. Loud noises and electronic devices should not be used; use earphones when necessary.
- Dress code: Please wear traditional attire. Men are required to wear Dhoti and Angavastram (upper garment), Women are required to wear sarees or salwar kameez with a dupatta for a spiritual environment.
- Prohibited items: Smoking, alcohol, consumption of non-vegetarian food, and non-prescription drugs are prohibited on the premises.
- Meals: Meals are simple and vegan/vegetarian. Three standard, basic meals with low levels of spice (satvik) will be provided (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), at specific times. No customization to specific tastes will be possible. Please adhere to the timings for these meals.
- Tea/Coffee and Snacks: There will be no tea/coffee served in the institution. No snacks will be served, other than breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Dress code for Temple and Dining Hall: Gents must wear dhoti and angavastram before entering the temple and dining hall. Women must wear saree or salwar kameez with a dupatta. Maintain silence even in the dining hall.
- Women during menstruation: Women who are menstruating may not enter the temple nor dining hall. Their meals will be served in their respective room of stay.
- Food wastage: Avoid wasting food.
- No-plastic zone: The institution is a no-plastic zone. Ensure no plastic and other non-bio-degradable materials enter the institution and that they are not discarded in the institution.
- Electronic devices: Use of phones and other electronic devices should be limited to designated areas.
- Respect for others: Respect the privacy and space of fellow retreatants.
- Waste disposal and recycling: Please follow the instructions for waste disposal and recycling as we strive to maintain a clean, plastic-free, and environmentally friendly space.
- Personal items: To the extent possible, please bring your own bedsheets and pillow covers. Please bring your own towels, and toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.
- No pets: No pets will be allowed to accompany the visitors.
- Donation: The institution does not have any fixed tariff for the stay and food. We appreciate donations to be able to run and grow the institution based on your ability.
